The Startco MPS combines motor protection, metering, control and data-logging functions. Nineteen protective functions, with programmable alarm and trip settings, are based on sequence-component and RMS measurements of motor current and voltage, and on temperatures from up to 24 sensors. A single MPS model is compatible with almost any induction motor. 

Metering is provided with an eighty-character display and on the network. Metered values include line currents, positive- and negative-sequence currents, current unbalance, line voltages, positive- and negative-sequence voltages, voltage unbalance, line frequency, real, reactive, and apparent power, used and trending thermal capacity, earth-leakage current, motor speed, RTD temperatures, analog- and digital-input states, relay-output states, starter state, motor state, and communications status. A data logger stores motor information on trips and starts.

The MPS can control any starter with its five programmable output contacts. It is compatible with variable-speed drives by synchronising with the drive output frequency.

Operator-interface and RTD modules are Class I, Zone 2 hazardous-location certified and can be remotely located from the control unit.
